A portrait memorial was requested for my client's much-missed cat.
My commissioner had a favourite photograph that showed him in his favourite spot, on top of the garden wall. Foliage includes cherry blossom which blooms every year in that position. Also included is Barbara the Beaver - his favourite toy.

Zsa Zsa, Keiko and Nina
A surprise birthday present for the sister of my commissioner.
The design was based on a list of things his sister loves : she is a musician, loves bees, orchids and especially her three Pekinese dogs.
This is a fully leaded piece and was supplied with a hand crafted oak mount to allow display in any position.

Buddy, Ellie, Baggins and Olly
This quadruple portrait is a memorial to three of my customer's cats (Olly is still with us).
​
The design includes specific plants (for example a bush that was planted in memory of Baggins and the ever-joyful sunflowers), a ball of wool and a mouse. It all relates to the cats' various characters and means a lot to the family. I've added forget-me-nots too plus three swifts for the 3 much - missed cats.

Poppy at Colmer's Hill, Dorset
A combination of pet portrait and landscape, this stained glass panel depicts Poppy, a Jack Russell Terrier, in a much loved landscape. Colmer's Hill is a magical, conical hill with a distinctive spinney cap which can be seen from miles around and offers far-reaching views of surrounding countryside and the Dorset coast.
This family love the area so much they wanted it permanently immortalised alongside the lovely Poppy. I loved doing this as we also used to go for holidays there, and this brought back many happy memories.

Millie
This was requested as a surprise Christmas present and incorporates Millie's favourite things: a squeezy ball, a chew toy and a flower pot!

Mona
A portrait of a beloved rescue cat with a great story!
Mona now lives with her adopted family in the British Virgin Islands but was found after a storm with her kittens under a boat, on a beach. Her rescuers have found good homes for her kittens and offered her a home where she is living her best life!

Mona's favourite things are her brush and her scratching post/pedestal and these are used in the design alongside frigate birds and local flora.

Finch
The same family of cat lovers came back to me one year later as they had rescued another cat!
Finch was found crying in a storm drain and rescued into the same family.
​
Finch's favourite thing is his running wheel hence the arch shape in the background. There is a little finch painted sitting on the wheel as a nod to his name, a drain is added in texture to the lower panel and more exotic flowers and foliage have been used to compliment the original Mona panel!

Eddie & Bruce
A portrait of two brothers together in their garden.
This was made as a surprise birthday gift and the plants reflect plants from their actual garden. A frog was added as something the birthday girl keeps trying to establish in her pond.
This way, frogs are always present in her garden!

A portrait of two family pets together in their garden. One cat had passed away and this is a lovely way to remember them together. Specific plants were requested plus a 'wee' mouse as Dorothy was quite a mouser in her time!

A portrait of two family pets together in a landscape of specifically requested plants and colours. The dogs' smiling faces prove their love of walks.
The robin has a special meaning for this family so was included, peeping through foliage.

Harry & Inka
These are two blind cats which were rescued from Crete as kittens. Much loved and and impressive in their independence. The plants are based on existing ones growing in their own garden. The photo below was sent over to the rescue centre in Crete (still friendly with my commissioners) and they took delight in seeing this.

Bess
A personal project, this was a gift for my brother; a portrait of our family dog, Bess.
Her portrait has been painted onto a single pane of stained glass then fired repeatedly to build up detail.
Additional panels reflect some of her favourite items (which she could tell apart if you asked her to fetch a specific thing!)

Geoff & Henry
Two much missed cats immortalised in handmade stained glass.
This was a thoughtful birthday gift commissioned by a friend. The specification included a sunflower and plants non-toxic to cats. These include snapdragons, gerbera, cornflowers and wild hyacinth.
The recipient had a little cry on receiving this (but in a good way).

Here are examples of recent pet portrait commissions. These can be any colour and various shapes up to 180mmx 180mm.

These single pane panels have been set up in a simple formula so easy to cost. Here is a rough idea of price:
On one sheet of coloured stained glass at a maximum size of 180mm x 180mm, painted with an animal portrait, based on photographs you supply, and fired so design is permanent with leaded edge, hook and a heavy duty suction cup to affix to window safely: £70.00 with free UK delivery, depending on design.

Small single colour pet portraits (up to 100mm x 100mm) can be offered at £40.00 with free UK delivery.

Alternatively, your pet portrait can be mounted in a hand-crafted, UK-made, tea light holder. These are made in sustainable American oak and come complete with your choice of wax or battery tea light.

Pet Portrait Vouchers
​
I offer two levels of voucher for pet portraits which you could give as a surprise gift to animal-loving friends. These are ideal if time is short and you want to buy that extra special gift, giving the recipient something to look forward to!
Both vouchers come with a gift card and include bespoke design (involving the recipient in the design process, choosing themes, favourite photographs, colours and formats). Both will be a bespoke, hand-painted piece of stained glass art with heavy duty suction cup to display easily and safely in any window. Both include free UK delivery. Vouchers can be purchased in the Atomic shop.

Simple, single colour portrait voucher 70.00
These are hand-painted and kiln-fired over night, several times, to achieve the desired effect and to be permanent. They can be up to 180mm x 180mm on a single piece of leaded stained glass.

Complex, multi-coloured portrait £190.00
These are also hand-painted and kiln-fired over night, several times, to achieve the desired effect and to be permanent. They can be up to 300mm x 300mm and are made up of many individual pieces of stained glass, copper foiled and finished with lead edging.

Personal project
Buster & Ivy.
The example shown here is a personal project, a memorial to our own two cats. Buster and Ivy are greatly missed and I tried to incorporate as many elements as possible to reflect their personalities and events in their lives. There is a key below which explains some of the themes.
