This hare with alliums involved several layers of paint, each kiln-fired over night for permanence to build up detail. The sun is a special effect achieved using silver stain, which has to be fired at a lower temperature, hence this was done last. Silver stain acts differently to paint as it actually stains the surface of the glass, whereas  paint fuses with it.
All hand painted and kiln-fired for permanence, this piece is finished with a stained glass border.
